Iceland
Concept competition
1 months, 2015
Group project with Veronica Brizzi, Carlo Mazzeri, Giovanni Simioni
The purpose of the competition was to develop an accommodation unit
that could be located anywhere, along the various Icelandic trekking routes,
taking into account the changing extreme weather conditions of the country.
The goal was to design an architectural object that enclosed the two souls
that make up the excursion: man and the environment.
The proposal was a module containing the minimum program for hospitalization,
night-time accommodation and toilets, all in an essential and
self-sufficient environment from an energy point of view.
In terms of architectural form the module alludes to a volcano,
in which the crater is replaced by a skylight that allows the entry of light coming
from the celestial vault, both during the day and during the night,
offering a constantly evolving landscape.
Since the landscape is both vertical and horizontal,
the skylight to the sky is flanked by a livable bow window.
